This brief piece (for your peace) highlights the power of being Unbothered & At Peace—rooted in the art of not taking things personally.
It's easy to feel slighted when a project gets reassigned or a suggestion is overlooked, but decisions in the workplace are often strategic, not personal.
Example: Your boss chooses a colleague to lead a project you were hoping for. Instead of seeing it as a personal rejection, recognize that the decision could be based on factors beyond you—experience, timing, or company goals. Use it as an opportunity to observe, learn, and refine your approach for the next opportunity.
2. In Relationships/Friendships: People Act Based on Their Own Experiences
Reactions from others are often more about their past, emotions, or stressors than about you.•
Example:A friend suddenly becomes distant and unresponsive. Instead of assuming you did something wrong, consider that they may be dealing with personal struggles. A simple check-in—“Hey, I noticed you’ve been quiet. Hope all is well”—shows care without taking their behavior as a personal slight.
3. On Social Media: Protect Your Peace
The digital world makes it easy to feel attacked, but not every comment or post deserves your energy.
Example: You share an opinion online, and someone responds negatively. Instead of engaging in an exhausting back-and-forth, remind yourself that disagreement isn’t an attack. You don’t have to convince everyone—sometimes, the best response is no response.
By shifting perspectives, you free yourself from unnecessary stress and maintain your peace. Not everything is about you, and that’s a good thing!
To Recap:
Each of these examples can be applied to your daily life as practical strategies. In many ways, you’re already familiar with them—whether through personal experience, stories shared by others, or simply by observing the world around you.
At Work: Recognizing that decisions are often about roles, not individuals.
In Relationships/Friendships: Understanding that people’s actions reflect their own experiences, not necessarily a reflection of you.
On Social Media: Avoiding emotional investment in online opinions and disengaging from negativity.
