As a young man, I spent many share of cutting yards, both for a bit of pocket money and for the simple joy of watching a messy lawn transform into a neat, manicured space. Each cut brought an amazing, clean smell, and I could see the yard shifting back to its normal self, shedding the overgrown grass and weeds to reveal its true beauty.
The yard, in its essence, was always kind and welcoming. It was only changed by nature—by rain, wind, and the environment. But the kindness of the yard never left; it was just hidden beneath the excess growth. In many ways, cutting the yard reminded me of removing the excess baggage from our own lives, allowing us to return to a state of normalcy and kindness.
Each time I mowed, I was not only grooming the grass but also sweeping my heart clean. It was an opportunity to reflect, to find clarity, and to reconnect with my own inner kindness. Just as the yard would inevitably grow wild again, life throws its challenges our way, sometimes covering our true selves with stress and negativity. Yet, with a bit of effort and care, we can always trim away the excess and reveal our best selves.
So, the next time you find yourself mowing the lawn or wandering about mowing the lawn, take a moment to appreciate the power of transformation. Remember that, like the yard, your heart can always be refreshed and renewed, no matter what life throws at it. It's a chance to cut away the clutter and let your true kindness shine through.
