So this is fun! Does the name Ernest Evans ring a bell?. I was first introduced to this man via landing the role of ‘Chubby Checker’ in a Middle School Extravaganza.
My Drama/Music Teacher - ‘Ms. Weed/Weave’. (Sadly, I can’t Remember the spelling of her name). She asked me to play the role ‘Chubby Checker’ aka Ernest Evans. You know, I said yes! I did not know the legend at that time. But man, it was really fun. Actually, that served as my first introduction to the world of ‘drama’. I announced, danced, lip ‘SANG’ and ignited the crowd in the School’s ‘Kiva. I entertained my tail off.
Quickly: Chubby Checker is an American rock and roll singer and dancer. Today, he‘s 80 years young. He is widely known for popularizing many dance styles, including The Twist dance style, with his 1960 hit cover of Hank Ballard & The Midnighters' R&B song "The Twist", and the Pony dance style with the 1961 cover of the song "Pony Time".
