Celebrate! Axe the Complaining

Although still in ‘vacay’ mode, my mind can’t help but explore the endless ways to uncover and appreciate the good that surrounds me.

Every day presents us with a choice: to celebrate or to complain. It’s easy to fall into the trap of grumbling about what’s lacking, what hasn’t gone right, or what feels just out of reach. But what if we flipped the narrative? Instead of focusing on what we don’t have, let’s anchor ourselves in the abundance of what we do. Allow me to highlight  four priceless gifts we’ve been granted that can transform our perspective: seeing a new day (sunrise), desire to make a difference, life itself, and the peace that comes with embracing it all. Let’s dive in.

1. Seeing a New Day

Waking up to a new day is not just routine; it’s a blessing. Each sunrise holds the promise of fresh beginnings, untapped opportunities, and a chance to try again. The simple act of opening your eyes in the morning is proof that you’re still here, still able to create, connect, and contribute. Complaining robs us of the ability to appreciate the miracle of now. So instead of grumbling about yesterday’s missteps, let’s celebrate the clean slate today offers.

2. Desire to Make a Difference

The spark within you to bring change—whether to your family, your community, or the world—is a gift not to be taken for granted. That desire means you care, you’re connected, and you have purpose. Not everyone feels the pull to leave things better than they found them. Celebrate your unique drive and let it fuel you. Complaining about what’s wrong won’t move the needle; acting on your desire to make a difference will.Side note: The other day, I found it intriguing to watch what I assumed was a homeless man holding up a sign while dancing. In that moment, he was living it up. I digress. lol

3. Life Itself

Life is the ultimate treasure. It’s not guaranteed, and it’s certainly not owed. Every heartbeat, every breath is a testament to your resilience and existence. While challenges are inevitable, they are also evidence of a life being lived. Complaining about the hard parts blinds us to the beauty of simply being alive. Celebrate the moments—big and small—that make life extraordinary. Savor the laughter, the connections, the lessons, and even the growth that comes from pain. Old folks will tell you to keep on living baby.  😃

4. Peace Associated with It All

When you shift your focus from what you lack to what you have, peace follows. It’s a quiet, steady reassurance that you’re on the right path, that you’re enough, and that abundance surrounds you. Complaining creates noise, drowning out the stillness that peace brings. Celebrate the calm, the balance, and the harmony that’s available when you choose gratitude over grumbling. ‘Smiles R Contagious’ - try it.

A Call to Action

The next time you’re tempted to complain, pause and reflect on these four gifts. Choose to celebrate. Celebrate the new day you’ve been given, the burning desire within you to make an impact, the very life coursing through you, and the peace that anchors it all. When you axe the complaining, you’ll find there’s so much more room for joy, gratitude, and forward momentum.

Life isn’t perfect, but it’s precious. And that alone is worth celebrating.

I just want to keep this thing called #life - SIMPLE! Remember to stay #Positive, #Plugged and #Present. 'Smiles R Contagious' by #Learnedman
