Family and Friends 🏨

Don’t Assume You Know!

So, I’ve experienced and learned (#LearnedMan) that you should:

  1. Believe half of what you see; and

  2. Don’t believe anything you hear. - PLUS as a bonus:

  3. I promote: In God I trust - everybody else must bring me Data.

I shared previously - that there are three (3) sides to a story. They are:

1. Your side.

2. The Truth (#truth).

3. My side.

Again - Notice - #truth takes the middle seat.

Back to - Don’t Assume You Know! There’s a song by The Emotions - “Don’t Ask My Neighbors”. Few lyrics: (sing it if you know it):

  • “You're wondering if I care about ya

  • Is there's some cause that I should doubt ya

  • Oh I can see boy that you don't know me very well

  • You're so unsure

  • And you run here and there to ask my feelings

  • Friends only guess, they can't really say

  • Don't ask my neighbors

  • Don't ask the friends I hang around” Here’s my favorite part:

  • “Don't be afraid to come to me”

Don’t be afraid to come to me. We should not assume - that we know what’s going on with someone.

Family & Friends - it is so critical that - we do not take things Personal. Challenging? I know! That’s posted on my refrigerator.. I see it daily.

What’s happening in my life - may not appear heavy or weighted to #you. But - it’s heavy for me. Stop assuming / confirm your beliefs - don’t take things personal. #You will be surprised - if #you would just approach the person - #you will discover - just how much things are not about #you! Smile 😃.

It’s really about them - their needs and wants. Just ask!

I’ve been recommending an amazing book 📕 for a while now: The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom - by Don Miguel Ruiz:

  1. Be Impeccable with your word

  2. Don’t take things personal

  3. Don’t make assumptions

  4. Always do your best

  • My brother shared - it changed his life and prepared him for what he didn’t see coming. He‘s mastering a new level in his life. His new new!

  • A colleague shared - it prepared her for the current career shift. Prior to - she wasn’t sure this career move was a good path for her and her family.

Family & Friends - here is the take away! Please, Don’t Assume You Know what’s happening in someone’s life - just ask them! This will help mitigate future relationship/friendship casualties.

Plus - stuff ‘ain’t‘ always the #truth or about #you.
